Comment on a colleague’s work #2

Response to colleague's work.

I am do not agree or disagree with my classmate argument about gun control in his blog. It's true that our Founding Father secure the right to bear arms to protect us from the government. But we also have to remember that having a gun is more necessary than the present. People have to protect their family from wild animals, bandits, and we were also at war with the Native American, so you get more use from a gun. Today you're not protecting your family from any wild animals (most of us live in the city or suburban areas), or bandits. I'm not saying we should take away guns altogether. We do need to do something to have more control on the person that is buying gun. Maybe we could make anyone that buy gun need to take some psychological tests, shooting courses to make sure the person that is buying it isn't having any mental problems. We don't want to take away the Second Amendment, but we do need to do something to stop mass shooting at schools and public places. We do need to do something to stop these actions, unless we want innocent children get kill in cold blood.

#7

I'm not sure how to comment about our government at it current state. On one hand, our country is better off than most other countries. We have a government that don't take away our rights. We have fresh waters, jobs, electricity, our rights are protected, and many more. But, on the other hand, our government have it own problem. Our health care system is nothing compared to other universal healthcare systems. Student tuition is on the rise, and so is student's debt. Almost every student graduate with over hundred of thousand dollars debt. Our government also corrupted, for the first time in our history almost all of the Senator and Representative are millionaire. How? We let corporations to buy elections. They have the power to control which bill will get pass. In this country, corporation controls everything, the government and its people. Instead of the government do what is best for its people, our government do what is best for the corporations by passing bill that will benefit them. We will live under their shadow until we stand up and do something about it. We're too comfortable with what we have to stand up from them and says enough. We will not do anything until our rights are at risk. Until we stand up to the corporation, our government will continue to be corrupted. They will continue to buy their way into the government, and people will continue to suffer. But even with everything, compare to other governments our system is still better than most.

Commentary on colleague’s work

In one of the recent blog by one of my classmates, she criticized our current President and his administration. Even though I agree with her that our President hasn't been doing what he has promised, and the country isn't what it use to be, but we can't blame everything on him. We need to look at the big picture here,  every President before him has left some problems behind for the next guy in office. Some of the problems we are facing right now are dated back for decades.

A country can't growth or become the world leader unless it has a great government system and leader. Our country was the greatest country and the strongest. Even though America is only a few hundred years old, we already surpass many countries that were found thousand of years ago. We developed electricity, automotive car, computer; we even landed on the moon. Our military are the strongest, and our economy was one of the strongest economy. This country was the land  where dream come true. Where people of any races can find hope, freedom, and opportunity, this is what the Founding Father wanted. This is why they fought England, for freedom and opportunity. They had a purpose, and they fought for it putting their life in danger. George Washington, our first President, was considered one of the greatest President. Then there was Lincoln, during the Civil War. What do they have that the other Presidents don't? They have the courage to stand up for what they believe in, and face obstacles face on. They do what is best for the country and the people.

I feel that we can't blame everything went wrong on the President. Sure he's leading the country, but he isn't the one that making all the decision. Our government also have the Senate and the House; they also have a hand in running this country. They are the one that can votes and passes laws that will either help or ruin this country. Our government consist of three different branches if one branch is corrupt everything will go down. And right now the government as a whole is corrupt, no one is doing the thing that will help the country as a whole. The nation isn't run by the President nor the people anymore. Money and corporation run the nation now, and us, the citizens are too comfortable with what we have to do anything about it.

Ebola

I’ve been reading a lot about Ebola the last few days; it make me chuckle at how little the government has done, and what a government need to do during a crisis. Our government has failed many times, but it always pull together in a crisis, except for this time.

The government fails to educate the public about Ebola. Ebola can only transmit through body fluid and only infectious when they show symptoms of the disease; fever, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, internal and external bleeding. The government also fail ease people mind. Ebola is a scary disease once you caught it. Ebola do have the highest fetal rate, but it does not transmit from one human to another as easy as flu or a cold. Unless, you live in development country like countries in Africa, where they Ebola is widespread. In those countries, they don’t have sewage systems or have anything like we do in the US. Dead animals, body fluids and ect. just stay on the street for days until decomposed.

They also fail to treat the volunteer nurses, doctors, and troops that return home after they went to West Africa to provide help and care. The 21- days mandatory quarantine for the nurses, doctors and troops that were call heroes by our President, but once they set foot in the USA they were secluded immediately from the public with no objection. The 21- days mandatory quarantine is a slap to those that volunteer their times and probably risk their life to do what is right. I understand why, but the way our government handling the situation is a little discourage anyone that wants to volunteer over in West Africa.

I feel what the government need to do is educate the people, so that their mind is at ease and safe. Just like any other crisis, to stop or control it we need to go to the source, West Africa. We need to send more experience nurses and doctors to train the nurses and doctors over there on how to take care of those that had caught the disease.

Travel ban

In the article " Ebola Hot Take of the Day: Travel Bans Would Make Things Worse. Let's Do Them Anyway." by Jason Linkins, is about banning travel between the US and West Africa. There are talk about banning any Ebola- related flight, by banning travel will contain the disease in Africa, where there is an actual outbreak. But by isolating countries that have the outbreak will put more burden on those countries, and increase people fear. Travel ban doesn't help containing the disease nor cures it. Even those that want to impose travel ban like Marc Siegel admitted, "travel ban against the Ebola- afflicted countries will be particularly effective, it may even be counterproductive…..isn't coming from the strongest side of what being an American means." I disagree about travel ban if we are going to ban every flight and isolate us from Africa; we might as well ban everyone from Texas and all the other states that have someone infected with Ebola. No one can go in or out of these states and will probably shut off our country. So instead of educate everyone about Ebola and how to be caution our government talk about travel ban, lets the news use Ebola to increase their rating. We're doing a great job at scaring people and running away.

Don't Panic Be Worry!!

In an article by Alexandra Petri about Ebola found it way into America and that the government and medical experts tell everyone to stay calm, I feel Petri is wanting everyone to drop everything and hide. She doesn’t really have any other information to back up what she is saying and only want to scared people more than what the news is already doing. Ebola is dangerous if you get the viruses, but many scientist are working on a vaccine/ cure for it. We also have two doctor that caught the viruses in Africa and recovered using the newly developed vaccine and therapy. Ebola can only spread through body fluid, blood, secretions or organs, so unless you’re taking care of the Ebola patients there is a very small chance you will get into contact with it. And those patients are isolate from other people, unlike in Africa where there is a big outbreak of Ebola, America have better equipment, hospital including excellent doctors and nurses working around the clock. Not to mention we’re much cleaner than Africa. Areas that have the biggest outbreak in Africa is where they don’t have clean water or any type of sewage system, so dead animals that might have carry the virus just lay there in the open rotten and people walk by barefoot stepping on fluids coming out of the animals. That’s why there are billions of people caught it in Africa, compare to our standard of living and their. More than half of the countries in Africa live in poverty, and now look at America. Getting panic and scared will not do us any good, panicking is not going to keep us from the virus. You can be worry, and be extra careful when you get into contact with any body fluid from a sick person. But other than that most of us is not scientists nor doctors, we can only hope scientists will contain it and find a cure for it. Try not to hide under your bed.

Download Textbooks? Why Not?

As a college student, I always wants to pull out my hair every time I sign up for classes. With the increases in tuition cost, it is harder for college students to pay for a $200 textbook for one class and only get a one percent offer at the end of the semester because they have a new edition out. Even with financial aids some of us still have to work two jobs to pay for college. In a recent article from the Washington Post, students are uploading their textbooks online as pdf files for other students to download. Many of us are finding cheaper way to get our textbooks for classes, either by downloading pdf file or renting the book whichever save the most. If every professor gives out a pdf copy of the book they require for class, but since they don't and colleges are not doing anything about it, go and download every book you can my friends, before colleges decide to do something to stop us from uploading and download textbooks.
